LEO Global Logistics Public Company Limited (LEO) is celebrating a significant achievement as its subsidiary LaneXang Express Co., Ltd., a joint venture with Sritrang Logistics Co., Ltd. and Baothai Index Associate Co., Ltd., successfully secured a major rail freight deal. The project involves the shipment of 32 containers from CRCT Asean International Logistics Sole Co., Ltd., a leading state-owned logistics enterprise based in Beijing, China, to Thailand via seamless rail-to-rail transportation — in line with the company’s Green Logistics strategy aimed at accelerating revenue growth.
Mr. Kettivit Sittisoontornwong, CEO of LEO, revealed that LaneXang Express was entrusted with handling the container rail transportation service directly from China to Thailand. The seamless Rail-to-Rail logistics model reflects a new standard of cross-border rail service, supporting LEO’s mission to reduce environmental impact while delivering efficient logistics solutions.
“This collaboration strengthens regional business connectivity across Southeast Asia through the Laos-China Railway,” said Mr. Kettivit. “It links to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the Pan-Asia Railway Network, which connects transport systems across Europe and Asia.”
For this shipment, cargo containers were efficiently transferred between Chinese and Thai trains, precisely as scheduled. The route passed through China, Laos, and Thailand, crossing the First Thai–Laos Friendship Bridge and clearing customs at Nong Khai checkpoint in Thailand. This shipment also marked the celebration of the second anniversary of the Laos-China Railway, which officially began operation on December 3, 2021.
LaneXang Express collaborated with key logistics players in Laos — including Lao National Railway Co., Ltd. (LNR) and Houng Ah Loun Logistics Co., Ltd. (HAL) — to ensure smooth coordination of customs clearance, train scheduling, and efficient container transloading. The average transloading time was an impressive two minutes per container. The company also partnered with SCGJWD Logistics PCL for final-mile road transport using Electric Vehicle Trucks (EV Trucks) to promote low-emission delivery.
Furthermore, the company is collecting data on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions related to freight operations, in collaboration with the Logistics and Supply Chain Academic Service and Research Institute at Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University, in accordance with ISO 14067 standards. This serves as part of its commitment to Green Logistics, aiming to reduce the environmental footprint of logistics activities.
LaneXang Express offers comprehensive Seamless Rail Transport Services, capable of managing door-to-door shipments while adhering to its Green Logistics vision. This development strengthens LEO’s position in the rail logistics sector, contributing to carbon credit initiatives by shifting from road to rail. LEO will take the lead in sales and marketing strategy, with strong confidence that this business will generate exponential growth in the company’s rail transport revenue from 2024 onwards.
